The Story
Real voices. Shared stories. One unforgettable afternoon.
UK-founded True Heart Theatre invites you to an interactive performance where your story takes centre stage, as it proudly presents Rooted Across Oceans at HONG KONG STORIES • UK STAGES 2025. This performance also forms part of the global Stories That Shaped Us celebration, marking 50 inspiring years of Playback Theatre across the world.
Through the powerful, spontaneous art of Playback Theatre, audience members share moments from real life — stories of migration, memory, identity, and hope — which are instantly brought to life on stage by actors and musicians.
We warmly welcome new arrivals from Hong Kong, fellow migrants, and local Londoners to gather in a space of listening, expression, and connection. Together, we’ll reflect on what it means to be Rooted Across Oceans, and how our past continues to shape our present.
Come to share, or simply to witness.
All are welcome – let’s meet through our stories.
What is Playback Theatre?
Playback Theatre is a deeply moving and spontaneous art where audience members share personal stories, which are then immediately brought to life on stage. There is no script, only truth, listening, and a shared commitment to making meaning through performance. It is a celebration of our shared humanity, where every voice matters, and every story becomes a bridge connecting us all.
